Kosovo Crisis: Serbs Facing Food Shortages, Albanians Burning Serbian Products

Three days after NATO's Kosovo force has blocked food, medical and heating fuel supplies to Serbs in northern Kosovo, Serbia warns such measures may lead to a "humanitarian catastrophe", and accused the West of supporting Albanian interests in disputed territory.
"Representatives of the international community (KFOR and EULEX) must remain neutral and should not take sides as they are doing now by refusing to talk with legitimate representatives of the Republic of Serbia and by blockading convoys of food, which could lead to a humanitarian catastrophe," Serbia’s Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic said in a statement.
Northern Kosovo, with majority of Serb population, heavily relies on Serbia for food and medical supplies. After the KFOR took over checkpoints Jarinje and Brnjak, suppliers from Serbia are unable to deliver bread and milk, and local shops are on the verge of selling out of meat and sugar products, the Belgrade-based Beta news agency reported.
Meanwhile, some Kosovo Albanians are celebrating the new situation by publicly burning Serbia-produced foodstuff. Reportedly, in the city of Srbica the symbolic burning was accompanied with different anti-Serb paroles such as: ”Let’s burn all the Serbs, Serbia and all their goods!”. On another location, in Podujevo, the goods were firstly covered by the Serbian flag and then set on fire.
Some Albanian civil organization called on boycott of Serbian products, and Kosovo’s Trade and Industry Minister Mimoza Kusari said they should be replaced by other goods produced in Albania and other countries.
According to AFP, more than 90 percent of Kosovo's imported food comes from Serbia, one of its main suppliers with goods totaling $370 million a year.

In response to the whitewashing of McCain Palin by Israpundit and its editor Ted Belman we are going to look afresh at some of the issues in the destruction of Yugoslavia, especially the role played there of McCain, Lieberman and Biden

As an introduction to this we have a very fine article produced by the former Byzantine Blog organization, now under a different url as shown below. It concerns a pivotal figure in the Racak Massacre hoax, itself closely connected witht he Srebrenica Massacre hoax story. This research is fresh off the presses as they say. We are indebted to our friends for this research.

[The Ranta story begins here]

Oct 24th, 2008

William Walker was instrumental in providing a trigger event to the US leadership and NATO for the planned aggression against Serbia
Helena Ranta Accused Western Officials of Pressuring her to Set the Serbs Up
Several days ago, a Finnish online news source reported Helena Ranta, forensic dentist involved in Racak hoax, complained in her recently published biography she was pressured by the Western authorities to accuse the Serbs for the “massacre”.

Ranta also revealed William Walker, an American official stationed in Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija in 1999 under the OSCE umbrella — notorious for being sent to stir problems in various parts of the world, rather than help calm the tensions — was so angry over her apparent refusal “to use sufficiently strong language” against the Serbs, that he broke the pencil at some point and threw the pieces at her.Ranta’s story sparked a lot of interest in Serbia, since the Racak fraud was used as a justification and trigger for the US-led NATO bombardment of Serbia that lasted almost three months (78 days). Ranta was promptly interviewed by Vecernje Novosti, where she further explained Walker insisted she should tell the media that Serbs have committed a massacre in the village of Racak, and that the killed were not combatants, but “innocent civilians”.

At the same time, she resolutely denied there were two different forensic reports she had put together, as established by the three Berliner Zeitung reporters, Bo Adam, Roland Heine and Claudius Technau. Speaking to Belgrade reporter, Ranta insisted there was only one report she wrote and that she acted perfectly professionally at all times, being it was simply not up to her to issue judgments on one side’s innocence or guilt.

However, according to the Serbian forensic expert Dr. Slavisa Dobricanin, the head specialist who examined the bodies of 40 Albanians in the Racak ravine, and investigative judge Danica Marinkovic who inspected the scene of the alleged crime, Ranta is merely weaving a new web of lies almost ten years later.

Too Little, Too Late: Do Spare Us the Crocodile Tears!
According to them, the woman who appears to have “opened her very soul” these days to the media, revealing the kind of pressures she was under while working on the bodies piled in the Racak ravine has, in fact, personally stated everything for which she blames the former OSCE Mission chief in Kosovo province, William Walker. That those were the “innocent victims massacred” in Racak, that they were “unarmed civilians” and that it was a “crime against humanity” — those were Helena Ranta’s words, former Director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pristina Professor Slavisa Dobricanin confirmed for Novosti.

“I’m not surprised by the things Ranta is saying now, but she still hasn’t admitted her own statements back then were false. I clearly remember she was constantly under surveillance by the German embassy and the Finnish ministry. The Finnish Minister for Human Rights Timo Labelma (sp?) was at the Institute all the time, as well as the German embassy’s Second Secretary. She was very nervous and constantly outside the autopsy room. She was always in the Institute hallways, talking to someone on her mobile phone”, Professor Dobricanin, who was leading the team of Serbian pathologists in the Racak case, recalls.

Helena Ranta, Finnish forensic dentist, never expressed regret over the ugly role she played in providing an alibi for the US-led NATO aggression against Serbia, based on lies and false allegations
Pointing out Ranta did not have sufficient expertise to determine the nature of the Racak conflict, Dobricanin is not prepared to forgive the lies with which Ranta smeared Serb pathologists at the time, claiming their analysis of the gunpowder residue found on the hands of the KLA terrorists piled up in the Racak ravine was “outdated”.

“When a person shoots from the firearm, the traces of unburned gunpowder remain on the palms of the hands. When we suspect someone has been using firearms, we check for those remains with the adhesive strips and diphenylamine solution to determine whether the residue found is the gunpowder. We have followed the same procedure in the Racak case. On the palms of the hands of 37 bodies out of 40 we have found the gunpowder residue. There was absolutely no question that those men were the terrorists,” Dr. Dobricanin asserted.

“But, for Helena Ranta this method was ‘old and outdated’. She claimed Interpol had prohibited it way back in 1968. Only she said that much later, despite the fact that every single autopsy report, and there was a total of 40 of them, was jointly signed by the international and Serb pathologists without a shred of disagreement,” Dobricanin said.

“Her claim that such analysis was ‘outdated’ was incorrect. When I testified at the trial against Slobodan Milosevic in the Hague, I submitted to the judges an article from the American magazine about the company which produces the material we have been using in our analysis. Would the Americans continue to produce ‘outdated’ forensic tools and material for their own market?,” Dobricanin asked.

He said that, after the autopsy reports were completed and jointly signed without any objections on behalf of the international forensic experts, the members of the international team decided to hold a press conference in Pristina. Members of the Serbian forensic team were not allowed to attend.

“William Walker was extremely nervous. He could barely stand still and he kept drumming his fingers on the chair. He did not speak. It was Helena Ranta that said all of it: that the killed were the unarmed civilians, that the massacre was committed, and that it was the crime against the civilians. The very three things a forensic specialist can not say,” Dr. Dobricanin concluded his recollection.

Investigative Judge Danica Marinkovic confirms the bodies found in the Racak field belonged to the armed terrorists, not “innocent civilians”. She went to the inquest with her team of investigators the moment the bodies were reported as discovered.

“As soon as we arrived to the village we found a large amount of weapons, both heavy and light. Machine guns, automatic, semi-automatic guns, the ammunition cases.. were all over the place,” Judge Marinkovic remembers.

“They opened fire at us when we went to examine the bodies. That lasted for three days, whenever we tried to enter the village. All the reports, by everyone who was involved in performing the autopsies in the line of duty, were the same — in regards to the cause of death, the injuries and in every other respect. But Helena Ranta, who was sent there with the political agenda, had issued her own statements. The reason why only her claims made it to the public was the bombardment that started only few days later”, Marinkovic said.

Racak Charges Removed from All the Indictments
Danica Marinkovic and Slavisa Dobricanin both testified at the Hague, on behalf of the former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic’s defense. As expert witnesses, they refuted prosecution charges, especially in respect to the names, gender and the age of the victims. Then-prosecutor Geoffrey Nice went as far as calling the Serbian judge and forensic pathologist “criminals”. After a while, when the prosecution data on the Racak KLA victims was “reevaluated”, he too quoted Marinkovic and Dobricanin, citing results of their investigation.

Following the evidence presented by the Judge Marinkovic and Professor Dobricanin, Hague prosecution removed Racak charges from all the indictments: from that of the late Yugoslav and Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic, from the process against the former Serbia’s President Milan Milutinovic, and from the processes against another five former Yugoslav and Serbian functionaries.

To this day, biography and all, Helena Ranta has never expressed regret over the ugly role she played in providing an alibi for Washington and NATO to start an aggression against Serbia, based on lies, conjectures and false allegations.

POEM - South of Canada Leadership

SOUTH OF CANADA LEADERSHIP

Our southern cousins are so broke
Mishandled mortgages were the start
It seems the government was on crack coke
Better to put your savings in a shopping cart

An economy in the dumpster
Let’s go to war, and why not two
Turned into a two headed monster
Old Dubya didn’t think this through

Jets into skyscrapers, not one but two
World trade center reduced to rubble
Two thousand plus reduced to goo
This could only mean impending trouble

Saudi Arabian folks who learned to fly
An intelligence memo mostly ignored
The Arabs would do and die
A president who looked so bored

The attack was done and finished
The heavily armed folks wanted revenge
Out Dubya’s came a turd gilded and polished
Attack a country with little to defend

Like the Grinch he cooked up a lie
The country had nothing to do with 9/11
But we must invade and Saddam must die
We must send him to Arab heaven

And into Afghanistan the US did go
Into the cities, mountains and deserts
They must destroy the evil foe
Mindless adventures they did exert

Two wars at once; it started to sting
Wal-Mart was richer than the white house
The Chinese cash registers never ceased to ring
While the US citizens lost their spouse

This is what happens when and empire dies
Fat citizens and minority gangs
True citizens wear uniforms amidst the lies
Heroes with out many fangs
Their politicians dither and dather
Small men with too much power
In a trench they would cower
Never standing up to their hour

The USA is full of heroes and good folks
The country needs to remember the good old days
Change the politicians with their votes
In order to get out of this endless maze

POEM - The Search for the Truth

The Search for Truth

Through the sands of time
I’ve searched for the truth
Over the hills of stone and lime
Never a doubt of my mission’s worth

Day by day, week by week
Always on this never-ending quest
The sand will never leak
Futile thoughts I’ve never guessed

Met many who claimed their power
Men of wealth and much grandeur
Their sweet wine would become sour
Their wise words would turn to slander

Time after time they’ve let us down
Their promises would be so empty
Words of filth and heinous noun
Never utter a touch of sympathy

Is my mission doomed to fail?
Could be there be no “god” worthy of humanity?
No leader to salute, no Caesar to hail?
Is there no guidance through this insanity?

I had to escape, take a respite
To the wilderness I headed in due haste
Along a river next to hills of height
Peace and harmony at once at last

As I took in nature in its splendor
I began to ponder my life’s task
Full of memories of misadventure
No answers to the questions asked

Surely the animals have no belief
Of an imaginary friend on a cloud
Nothing is perfect, not even a leaf
But one look at a wolf and you know it’s proud

The wolf pack has no need of such bother
Their guidance comes from the Alpha male
And just as much from the mother
Raise a winner, they never fail

My quest is over, I can rest
The truth is within us all
Raise a family, do your best
Climb the ladder, don’t let them fall

POEM - The Eviling

THE EVILING

What makes humans evil?
Are there ape or monkey psychopaths?
Have we evolved into some devil?
What led us down the sordid path?

Is there any animal that just snaps?
And starts murdering the pack?
Why do our big brains have this lapse?
Is there something that we lack?

The wolf pack would never tolerate this
The deviant would put killed or banished
Their decision final, they don’t take the piss
No lawyers needed for the punished

But we have developed methods of killing
No need for strength to pull a trigger
The weakest link can become a villain
Shoot a baby or a father figure

A mad chimp could not go on a spree
Armed with a stick and bad attitude
He is just no match for a team of three
He was delicious; that crazy dude

But the advanced brain of man
Apparently bazillion years ahead of apes
This brain will hatch a plan
Full of murder, full of rapes

These plans eventually lead to action
Men full of hate, full of fear
Blow up a car, end a vacation
76 innocents in headlights dear

Can we follow the wolf pack?
Banish a killer, but to where?
Aside from Mars he will be back
Send him there, and then back to here

Prison is choice of society
3 meals a day and a warm bed
Capital punishment is almost history
But truth is they should be dead

The damaged heart can be mended
The broken bone splinted and healed
But maybe the psycho’s life ended
Surely his fate should be sealed

Medication is the only answer
No one wants a psycho’s slaughter
Chemical imbalance is their cancer
But we’ll never again hear their victim’s laughter

Put them to death; put them on drugs
The wolf solution can’t work in out society
Give them a chance; give them some hugs
Send them to me for some wolf hospitality.

Wounded soldiers out, 'fat plugs' kept in

Wounded soldiers out, 'fat plugs' kept in
Monday, June 20, 2011
By David Pugliese, Ottawa Citizen

The former veterans ombudsman has come out in support of keeping wounded soldiers in the ranks of the Canadian Forces, saying that the military's Ottawa headquarters is full of "fat plugs" who aren't physically fit but unlike the injured suffer no consequences.

The Canadian Forces says it must follow what it calls the universality of service principle which dictates personnel must be fit to perform military duties and be capable of being deployed on missions.

Wounded Afghan veterans say the military is using that principle to force them out of the Canadian Forces.

But retired colonel Pat Stogran says there is no reason why such combat veterans, who want to continue serving their country, can't do so. He says the universality of service rule makes no sense and the military overlook it when they want to.

"I could walk down the halls of NDHQ and show you people with no medals on their chest who are not deployable, either because they're overweight or because they've got family problems or whatever and no one challenges them," explained Stogran, who was in charge of troops during the 2002 deployment to Afghanistan.

"There are certain things they (the wounded) would readily admit they aren't up to but there are still all sorts of jobs that some fat plugs at NDHQ who are not deployable, who are not universally fit for service, are now doing."

Stogran says a greater principle should be at play and that is one of taking care of those who have made significant sacrifices for their country and want to continue serving the nation.

The federal government is currently being sued by Ryan Elrick, a 38-year-old former soldier who had his legs blown off by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2006.

He was retrained to be an intelligence analyst in the Canadian Forces, and had been praised by officers for his performance in that job.

But in documents filed in Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench Elrick alleges he was forced out of the military in March because the Canadian Forces determined his disability made him unfit for service. Elrick stated the military determined he was in violation of the universality of service policy.

Rear Admiral Andy Smith, chief of military personnel, says no soldiers are being forced out. Smith says the Forces are prepared to offer wounded veterans jobs either training cadets or providing administrative work for that organization. In addition, there are jobs supporting the Canadian Rangers, a reserve force that operates in the Arctic.

No jobs would be offered with the regular forces, though.

If that is not of interest, the Canadian Forces helps prepare the wounded to transition to civilian life. "If anything we are being extremely compassionate, respectful in treating people in a dignified manner, to help them deal with the terrible things that have happened to them," Smith said.

The files of 40 wounded soldiers are being reviewed by the military.

In a previous interview Smith said individuals who can't pass fitness tests because they are overweight are provided with help. But ultimately they too would be removed from the Canadian Forces if they cannot meet the universality of service conditions, he added.

However, some serving soldiers have disputed that, noting there are overweight individuals or those who have family issues and as a result have been quietly exempt from serving overseas.

Both Stogran and Elrick point out that attitudes toward the wounded are much different in the U.S. military. In an undated article about the U.S. army's amputee patient care program, Dr. Jeff Gambel, of the Amputee Coalition of America, noted that "today's military amputee who wishes to remain on active duty commonly finds a more receptive atmosphere, if not strong encouraging support from their chain of command."

Such support, writes Gambel, is "well-founded given advances in amputee care that make it possible for amputee service members to effectively meet and exceed rigorous performance standards for a wide range of military occupations."

Gambel pointed out that two U.S. generals, who returned from the Vietnam War as amputees, were allowed to continue on in their careers and recently retired after full, active-duty careers.

Stogran also highlighted the major advancements made in prosthetics and said wounded Canadian Afghan veterans have shown they are physically fit, running marathons and taking part in other sports activities.

Smith acknowledged that some of the wounded have made great strides in their rehabilitation. But he added: "It's more than just being able to run a marathon. You have to do all the various fitness tests we prescribe to effectively measure their fitness in relation to the universality of service principle."

Smith said the issue should also not be influenced by the argument that the numbers of wounded are relatively small, so the Canadian Forces could easily find a place for them in the regular ranks. The universality of service principle overrides that, he added.

But Stogran said the real problem is that senior military commanders have slipped into a bureaucratic mindset. "I'm sure if you talked to the young warriors who work with these wounded guys, they'd say, 'sure I'd soldier alongside these guys anytime'," Stogran explained.

"It's when it gets to the paper pushers at NDHQ that things change."

POEM - Do You Know You're Alive?

Do you even know if you're alive?
Does your day to day life meet the qualifications?
Can you boogey, can you jive?
Is playtime a part of your vocation?

When you get to the cuckoo's nest
Can you look back with both regret and pride?
A fable unlike all the rest;
A legend that you took in stride!

Or a life of commute and 9 to 5;
A solitary exixtence in your cublicle;
Just another worker bee in the hive;
Empty life and meaningless nuptial.

Did you settle into meaningless toil;
Are you counting the days till the end;
Your temper have never reached the boil;
Never came close to the bend.

Have you wondered where your dreams went?
It wasn't supposed to be this way.
An old car with many a dent;
Too early to work, too little time to play.

The Soldier has no such luxury;
Every action means so much;
Bring to the masses some democracy;
Try to avoid a beer hall putsch.

We have lived, we have died;
A meaningless day is so rare;
There are many exploits we have tried;
Many an episode started with a dare.

We have experience of life and death;
This great country's bright and best;
Seen to many comrade's last breath;
Protect the innocent, hunt down the rest.

The Canadian soldier has seen the joy and misery of life;
The best of humanity - the worst of greed;
Simple disagreements ended with a knife;
Peace has become our solemn deed.

Visit the halls, visit the Legions;
Absorb the life's lessons of these hero's;
Make their value's a part of your traditions;
Their sacrifice delivers my prose.

Now not everyone can be a Soldier;
Canada needs every citizen to work;
Some folks are just a little bolder;
No-body needs that co-worker jerk.

You may not think you are part of these teams;
Yet an honest job is part of society;
This nation is just what it seems;
Making the true north strong and free a reality.

No matter your drudgery and depression;
Step up to the plate, stand on your throne;
We live in a country with free expression;
Shout it out loud, shout it into a phone.

From the paper boy to the Army leader;
With the assistance of Mr. P Minister;
And without a lock of Bieber;
This is the land without sinister.

We are all brother's, nay sibling's;
Brothers and sisters of this great land;
I suspect this is one of my better babblings;
Written in my own hand.
